1 c. soft butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour

In mixer bowl, cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. At low speed, blend in flour. Wrap dough in waxed paper; refrigerate until chilled.

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. On floured surface, roll out dough 1/3 inch thick. Cut into 3 inch stars.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 20-25 minutes or until light golden. Remove to rack; cool. Makes about 2 dozen.
