FREEZER SLAW | |
1 med. cabbage head 1 sweet green pepper, chopped fine 1 grated carrot 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. mustard seed 3/4 c. vinegar 1/2 tsp. celery seed 1/2 c. water Shred cabbage, add salt and let stand for 1 hour. Then squeeze out liquid by hand. Grate carrot and add with chopped pepper to cabbage. Boil sugar, vinegar and water for 5 minutes. (This makes a thick syrup.) Take off stove, add celery seed and mustard. Cool until warm and pour over cabbage mixture. Mix well and put into freezer container and freeze. When ready to use thaw and it's ready to serve. |
