5 c. crushed berries
7 c. sugar
1 box Sure-Jell
Crush berries one layer at a time. Measure fruit packed solidly in cup; if slightly short add water. Put into 6 to 8-quart pan. Measure sugar and set aside.
Stir Sure-Jell into fruit (pan must not be more than 1/3 full to allow a full boil). Bring to a full boil over high, stirring constantly. At once, stir in sugar. Stir and bring to a full rolling boil (a boil that cannot be stirred down). Then boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Skim off foam with large metal spoon. Immediately ladle into jars. Wipe rims of jars with damp cloth. After cooled, cover with wax. Use 1/2 teaspoon butter and 1/4 cup sugar with Sure-Jell to produce less foam on top.
