4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
4 tbsp. cornmeal
2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 tbsp. melted shortening
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, well beaten
2 c. sweet milk

Sift dry ingredients. Mix in cornmeal. Combine eggs and all milk and add to flour mixture. Add shortening. Mix only enough to dampen flour. Bake on hot greased griddle. Makes about 2 dozen griddle cakes.
