REFRIGERATOR COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. shortening
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
chopped pecans optional

Mix first 5 ingredients. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Divide dough into two portions. Form each portion into long square roll. Wrap in wax paper and refrigerate. (Overnight is best.) Slice and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes. Do not over brown.
