CHRISTMAS APPLESAUCE CAKE 
3 c. applesauce
4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. (2 sticks) butter
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. nutmeg
4 c. flour
1/2 c. cherry preserves
1/2 c. pineapple preserves
1 c. chopped pecans

Combine applesauce, soda and butter. Heat and let cool. Mix sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and flour. Combine with applesauce mixture, then add preserves and nuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes in well greased and floured tube pan. If you like, you can make this sauce and pour over the cake.

BUTTERMILK SAUCE:

1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. butter
Vanilla
1 tbsp. white corn syrup

Mix, cook, bring to boil. Let boil for few minutes and pour over hot cake.
