ORANGE DATE BARS 
1 c. candy orange slices, cut up
1 c. chopped dates
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water

Boil above until thick; cool. 1/2 c. butter 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Add the flour, salt, soda and vanilla and mix well. Put 1/2 in a 9"x13" pan. Cover with date and orange mixture. Spread with remaining batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
