THE BEST APPLE PIE 
FILLING:

6 c. sliced apples
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. cinnamon (heaping)
1/4 tbsp. nutmeg (scant)
1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine first 6 ingredients. Toss lightly to mix. Pour into pastry-lined 8-inch pie pan. Dot with butter.

TOPPING:

1 c. unsifted flour
1/2 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. butter

In mixing bowl combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter with a fork until crumbly. Sprinkle over fruit. Bake 40-45 minutes.
