CREME DE MENTHE 
1 1/3 c. vodka
1 1/2 c. sugar syrup
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
2 tsp. vanilla
Few drops green food coloring

BASIC SUGAR SYRUP:

1 lemon
3 c. granulated sugar
2 c. water

Combine vodka, sugar syrup, peppermint extract and vanilla in a 4 cup screw top jar. Add food coloring and stir. Store in cool, dark place for 1 week.

FOR BASIC SUGAR SYRUP: Pare lemon very thinly (no white). Blot peel on paper towel. Combine sugar, water and peel; bring to boil stirring often. Simmer 5 minutes. Strain liquid into glass jar. Cool before using.
