DATE LOAF CANDY 
3 c. sugar
1 sm. pkg. dates
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
1 c. nuts
3 tbsp. butter

Mix sugar, milk and butter in heavy saucepan and bring to boil. Add dates. Cook until soft ball forms in water. Remove from fire. Add nuts and vanilla. Beat until stiff. Roll in damp cloth and cool. Place in refrigerator and slice for serving.
