OYSTER STEW 
1 can oysters or 1/2 pt. fresh oysters
3 or 4 strips bacon
1 med. onion
1 stick butter
Salt
Pepper
Pinch of thyme
2 c. water
2 c. milk
Flour or corn starch to thicken

Saute bacon, remove. Slice onion into drippings, saute until tender but not brown. Melt butter in fry pan, chop oysters and lightly brown in butter mixture.

Put all of above ingredients in Dutch oven or slow cooker except milk and flour/cornstarch. Simmer slowly for 2 or 3 hours. Add 2 cups milk and thicken before serving.

Serve with oyster crackers.
