OATMEAL DROP COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. quick-cooking oatmeal
1 c. soft shortening or butter
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. milk
1 c. chocolate chips (optional)
3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Set oven at 375 degrees. Sift together flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon; add oatmeal. Combine butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla in large mixing bowl. Add milk, then flour mixture gradually while beating. Add chips and nuts (optional). Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes or until done. Makes 5 dozen.
