APPLE COBBLER 
4 c. thinly sliced, peeled cooking apples
1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/3 c. butter, melted
Whipped cream or ice cream (optional)
Ground cinnamon

Place apples in a lightly greased 9 inch round cake pan. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Sift together flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Combine egg, milk, and butter; add to dry ingredients, mixing until smooth. Pour over apple mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until top is golden brown. 6-8 servings.
