CUSTARD PIE 
1/2 recipe pastry (recipe follows custard recipe)
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Line 9-inch pie pan with pastry dough. Combine eggs, sugar and salt; add vanilla. Strain into pie shell. Bake in hot oven (450 degrees) for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to moderate (350 degrees) and bake 30 minutes longer or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

PASTRY RECIPE (for 2 pie crusts!!) :

1 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt (scant)
1/3 c. shortening
3 tbsp. cold water (about)

Cut in flour and salt and shortening until like meal. Gradually add water, using just enough water to hold ingredients together. Roll 1/8-inch thick on floured board.
