BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
3 cups sugar
1 cup shortening (Crisco)
3 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Mix flour, salt and baking soda. Add to mixture alternately with buttermilk. Pour into greased tube pan and bake at 375°F for; about 1 hour or more.
