MRS. R.'S OATMEAL MACAROONS 
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. flour
5 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. milk
2 1/2 c. quick cooking oats

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and cream once more. Blend in vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture alternately with milk; mix well. Stir in oats. Drop by tablespoons onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Yields 3 1/2 dozen cookies. A big "thank you" to Mrs. Rafferty for that one.
