WAIKIKI MEATBALLS 
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1/3 c. minced onion
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. vinegar
1/3 c. chopped green pepper
2/3 c. cracker crumbs
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 can pineapple tidbits
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 1/2 tsp. salt

Mix beef, crumbs, egg, milk, salt, and ginger. Shape into balls. Melt shortening in a large skillet and brown the balls well. Remove the meatballs, keeping them warm and pour fat from the skillet. Mix cornstarch and sugar and stir in reserved pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce, stirring until smooth. Pour into skillet and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Add meatballs, pineapple tidbits, green peppers, and heat through. Serve with rice.
