BROCCOLI SALAD 
1 head cauliflower
2 heads broccoli
1 bunch green onions
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. wine vinegar
Generous amount of pepper
1/2 c. mayonnaise
1/2 to 1 lb. cooked, crumbled real bacon
1/4 lb. roasted and salted sunflower seeds

Slice onions (optional). Cut broccoli and cauliflower into small flowerettes. Mix together sugar, wine vinegar, and pepper; marinate onions, broccoli, and cauliflower overnight. When ready to serve, pour off marinade and add mayonnaise, bacon pieces, and sunflower seeds.

For variation: I have added pasta, peas, and black olives.
