SOUTHWESTERN FRY BREAD
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. evaporated milk
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. shortening
Oil

Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually stir in evaporated milk until mixture forms a ball. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let stand 1 hour. Divide dough into thirds; roll each third into an 8 inch circle. Make 2 (4 inch) long parallel cuts all the way through dough 1 inch apart, down center of circle, leaving outside edge of circle intact. Pour oil 1/2 inch deep into 10 inch skillet, heated to 360 degrees. Fry bread, one at a time, about 1 1/2 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towel. Serve warm with Honey Butter. Makes 3 (8 inch) breads.
