HOMEMADE BISCUIT MIX | |
8 c. sifted enriched flour 1/4 c. baking powder 4 tsp. salt 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 c. shortening Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture has a find even crumb. Cover closely and store in the refrigerator until ready to use. Will keep two months in refrigerator. Yield: 5 batches biscuits with 2 cups of mixture to the batch. To Make Biscuits: Add 1/2 cup milk to 2 cups homemade biscuit mix. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1/2 minute. Pat on roll 1/2 inch thick and cut with medium sized biscuit cutter, dipped in flour. Bake in hot oven 400 to 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: 10 to 12 biscuits. |
