CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES | |
1 c. butter, softened 3/4 c. sugar 3/4 c. packed light brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. each vanilla and salt 2 1/4 c. flour, divided 1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. hot water 1 pkg. (12 oz.) semi sweet chocolate chips 2 c. chopped nuts In large bowl, cream butter; gradually add sugars, creaming well. Add eggs, vanilla and salt; creaming well. Beat in 1 1/4 cup flour, then baking soda mixture, stir in remaining 1 cup flour just until blended. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Roll rounded tablespoons dough into balls (chill dough if necessary) or if preferred, drop dough by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls. Place 2 inches apart on foil-lined cookie sheets. With back of wet spoon flatten balls or mounds to about 1/2 inch thick. Bake in upper third of preheated 375 degree oven 12 minutes or until lightly brown. Remove from oven; cool 30 seconds or until firm enough to remove to rack to cool completely. Store airtight. |
