2 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. plain flour
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash nutmeg, if desired

Pour hot water over butter, sugar and flour. Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly. Add vanilla and nutmeg. Serve warm over gingerbread or plain cake.
