CARAMEL FROSTING 
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine all ingredients except vanilla. Cook in large boiler, stir until butter dissolves, then cook until soft ball forms in cold water. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until creamy and ready to spread. Spread on cake.
