CARAMEL FROSTING 
2 c. white sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 lb. butter
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine all ingredients except vanilla. Stir until sugar is melted. Cook until forms soft ball, stirring occasionally. Add vanilla. Cool about 5 minutes. Beat until creamy and spread on layer cake. You need to cook in large boiler.
