NUT MERINGUE SQUARES 
2 1/2 c. mixed salted nuts (13 oz.)
1/4 c. melted butter
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. crushed soda crackers

Combine nuts and butter. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, salt and vanilla until foamy. Add sugar gradually, continuing to beat until meringue is stiff. Fold in crushed crackers (crumbs) and then carefully fold in nuts. Spread into well buttered 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown. Cut in squares (about 2 inches) while warm. Cool. Makes 24 squares.
