CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE SYRUP | |
1 box cake mix (white or yellow) Fix cake as directed on box (bake in 10 x 13-inch pan or pound/bundt pan). Let cool. SYRUP: 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. water 1/4 c. rich milk 4 squares unsweetened chocolate 1/2 tsp. vanilla Let sugar and water boil in saucepan for 5 minutes. Cool partly and gradually stir in chocolate (which has been melted over hot water); add vanilla. Place in double boiler to keep hot, then at the last moment, add milk. Cut cake and pour chocolate syrup over. Delicious |

I had a niece's birthday to make muffins for and only realised I had enough icing sugar for a handful of them. Surfing the net I found this chocolate syrup - life saver! I used it to decorate the rest of the muffins and added little sparkles to make it more kiddy.
