1 (18 1/2 oz.) German chocolate cake mix 1 c. chopped nuts 1/3 c. plus 1/2 c. evaporated milk, divided 3/4 c. butter, melted 1 (14 oz.) pkg. vanilla caramels, unwrapped 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate morsels In large mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix, nuts, 1/2 cup evaporated milk and butter. Press half of batter into the bottom of a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch glass baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. In a double boiler, melt caramels with 1/2 cup evaporated milk. When completely melted, pour over baked layer. Sprinkle with morsels. Pour remaining batter on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes. Let cool before cutting into squares. 16 to 20 squares. |
