MARIANNE'S POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1 1/3 c. flour
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. almond or lemon extract
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
Wheat germ (to sprinkle on pan)
Confectioners' sugar (to sprinkle on cake)

Cream together 2 sticks butter, 1 1/3 cup flour. Beat for 5 minutes. Add 5 eggs, one at a time. Mix well after each one. Add 1/2 lemon or almond extract. Add 1 1/3 cup sugar. Add 1 teaspoon baking powder. Mix well. Bake in a greased tube pan that has been sprinkled with wheat germ. Bake 1 hour. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar when cooled.
