APPLE DUMPLINGS 
1 recipe pastry
6 sm. apples, cored and peeled
1/2 to 1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. melted butter
1 c. water
1/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed

Roll pastry to 18 x 12 inch rectangle. Cut into 6 inch squares. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Dip apples in melted butter then in sugar mixture. Place on pastry squares. Sprinkle remaining sugar mixture in center of apples. Moisten edges of pastry, bring up corners to top of apple, pinch and prick. Place in baking dish and bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Combine water and remaining butter, pour over dumplings. Bake at 375 degrees for another 40-50 minutes. Serve warm with cream.
