NEVER FAIL DUMPLINGS 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. hot water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk, beaten
2 c. flour

Mix shortening and hot water, stirring until shortening melts. Add salt and beaten egg yolk. Then add enough flour to make stiff dough. Roll out and cut into squares or strips. Drop into boiling broth.
