I have a rough time boiling water, which coincidentally made my first batch way too runny. For the second batch I made sure the water was boiling and achieved perfection. I was looking for how much gel food coloring to put in and about four or five drops gave me decent color. Great quick recipe to make with young ones.

A good basic recipe that is easy to double. If you don't have cream of tartar, you can substitute a teaspoon of alum. Or, if you have neither, you can use about a tablespoonful of vinegar, although your playdoh will smell kind of like vinegar. I also tried using sugar-free raspberry drink mix, both for the acid and the color, but it came out a real ugly color, kind of like raw beefsteak. My granddaughter still played with it, but I would have rather had a pretty color, so I won't be using that again!

Super easy for toddlers when you just don't have enough time! :) I used baby oil gel for the oil, and it turned out so well. It smells awesome and makes your hands smooth. Lol were having a blast with it as we speak. I have to say tho, when we have more time, i'm going to try a cooked recipe for comparison, but as it is now... I LOVE this one! thanks so much!

I have made this recipe for years with no problem, I tried it 3 times today and it is very sticky all 3 times... anyone have any idea of what happened?

This is a great, non-cook recipe. Quick to mix up and works well!

I had high hopes for this recipe. I was looking for something easier than the stove-top directions. This was definitely easier, and due ease of use I would probably make it again. However the consistency was not nearly as elastic and smooth as when the ingredients have actually been cooked together.

I am an RA at UW-Parkside. I made this dough for a program in the Residence Hall. It turned out pretty ok. We didn't have any cream of tartar so it didn't stretch very well (about 6 inches was the max before it broke).

We used Hawaiian Punch single serves (dollar store, 8 for a dollar) and Kool-Aid mix (2 quart). The yellow didn't work very well. Purple was bluish and red was pinkish. The orange Kool-Aid packet really turned the dough orange. It was awesome!

Decent recipe, too bad I couldn't comment on the cream of tartar.

Great recipe and super easy to do, but don't forget the cream of tartar! I started making it and realized I didn't have any. The 1st day it was fine, but the next day it turned into a mushy mess.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is a must for all teachers: even in 1st grade children learn states of matter and how they change. Last year I used the crayon maker. But you had to use crayons to make crayons. This one! Abs. fabulous. My first graders can make the playdoh and my kinders can make letters with the playdoh! How wonderful!

This recipe is really great. Instead of food coloring, I like to use 2 packets of kool-aid or unsweetened drink mix. It has great color and amazing smell.
