1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 c. apple, peeled & chopped
1 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg; mix well. Blend in apples. Sift together flour, soda, spices. Add nuts. Bake in greased 8"x8" pan at 350 degrees about 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or lemon sauce.

LEMON SAUCE:

1 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 pat butter

Mix cornstarch and butter. Add other ingredients. Stir over low heat until thick.
