PECAN PAULINE'S 
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening or butter
2/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 unbeaten egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring

Cream butter, sugar and egg and flavoring. Add dry ingredients, mix well. Shape into balls or drop by teaspoon until greased cookie sheet. Break 2 or 3 pieces of pecans on each cookie (press one). Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Drizzle with following frosting.

PRALINE FROSTING:

Combine in small saucepan:

3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. corn syrup
2 tbsp. water

Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Blend in:

1 c. powdered sugar

Beat until smooth. May add drops of water until consistency of glaze.
