1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
Dash of salt
1 to 2 tbsp. Half and Half
Dates, nuts, semi-sweet chocolate morsels, and candies or maraschino cherries

ICING:

1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 to 2 tbsp. Half and Half
1 to 2 drops food coloring

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. In large bowl thoroughly mix butter, sugar and vanilla.

3. Work in flour and salt until dough sticks together. If dough is dry, mix in 1 to 2 tablespoons Half and Half.

4. Mold dough by tablespoonfuls around dates, nuts, few chocolate morsels or cherry.

5. Place cookies about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until set, but not brown. Cool.

6. Combine powdered sugar, vanilla, salt and Half and Half in medium size bowl. Add desired food coloring and mix.

7. Dip tops of cookies into icing. If desired, decorate with coconut, colored sugar, etc. Makes 20-25 cookies.
