OLD FASHIONED TEA CAKES | |
3 c. flour 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 1-2 tsp. salt 1 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening, eggs and vanilla. mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees until edges are golden. For a prettier cookie, drop the dough onto the sheet and flatten with a glass bottom dipped in sugar. This recipe was used by both of my mom's grandmothers. They were always in the cookie jar. |
