BUTTER BALL COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp. water
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter to soften, then thoroughly cream shortening and sugar. Mix in water and vanilla, then flour and nuts. Chill for 3 or 4 hours. Form dough into balls. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in slow oven (325 degrees) for 15 minutes. Cool slightly and dip in powdered sugar.
