2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening or butter
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour (cake)
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
6 sm. pears, grated
1 c. chopped nuts

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
