APPLE PIE | |
pie crust for 9 inch double pie shell or 2 9 inch pie shells pre-made 6 medium or 3 lb. Golden Delicious or Granny Smith Apples 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1/3 c. sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg milk Core and peel apples. Slice each apple into pieces and place in large bowl. Add lemon juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss and toss and toss and toss and toss. Prepare pie crust and place first one loosely in a 9 inch pie pan. Trim edges leaving about 1/4 inch around the edge. Place apples in pie shell. Prepare second pie shell (when rolling it out, roll out wider than the pie pan). Place pie shell over apples and trim, leaving a little more than a 1/4 inch hanging over. Join the edges together by pinching and tucking them together. Make a design on top, brush milk on top and sprinkle on sugar. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then turn oven down to 350°F and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Pie is done when apples are tender and crust is a golden brown. |
