WALNUT POUND CAKE
3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour milk
1/2 c. finely ground walnuts
Sifted confectioners' sugar

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. Cream together butter and sugar in mixing bowl until light and fluffy, using electric mixer at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla (total beating time: 10 minutes).

Add dry ingredients alternately with sour milk to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition, using electric mixer at low speed. Stir in walnuts. Pour batter into greased 10" tube pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean or top springs back when lightly touched with finger. Cool in pan on rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan; cool on rack. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Makes 12 servings. NOTE: For sour milk, place 1 tablespoon vinegar in measuring cup. Add enough milk to make 1 cup.
