GREEN SALAD WITH BUTTERMILK
DRESSING
 
8 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 lg. Romaine lettuce or mixed greens, cut into bite-size pieces
2 red apples, cored, cut into halves
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. lemon juice

Cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 3 tablespoons of the drippings. Crumble bacon. Toss lettuce with hot bacon drippings in salad bowl.

Cut apples into 1/4 inch slices; add to lettuce. Mix buttermilk, sugar, salt and lemon juice in small bowl. Pour over lettuce and toss. Sprinkle bacon over top. Makes 6 servings.
