OATMEAL TRAVELERS 
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1 c. softened butter
1 1/4 c. light brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c.flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. rolled oats

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 inch pan.

In double boiler, combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate. Heat over hot water until melted, stirring constantly. Stir in nuts. Remove from heat.

In medium bowl, beat butter, brown sugar and vanilla. Add flour, salt and baking soda; blend thoroughly. Stir in oats.

Press 1/2 of oat mixture evenly in pan. Spread chocolate over. Sprinkle with remaining oat mixture, pressing into chocolate.

Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Cut into bars. Makes about 50.
