MOTHER'S STICKY CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa
3/4 c. butter
1 c. boiling water
2 c. flour
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix first 4 ingredients in pan on stove; let come to boil. Set off stove. While hot, beat in (I use rotary beater) flour, eggs, buttermilk in which soda has been mixed, and vanilla. Beat good. Reserve 1 cup or more batter.

Bake in 8 or 9-inch square Pyrex pan at 325 degrees. Time varies: 30-45 minutes (according to oven). When done, poke holes in cake with fork and pour reserved batter over cake. (Good with homemade strawberry ice cream recipe found elsewhere in cookbook.)
