HE - MAN STEW 
2 lbs. beef (chuck)
2 tbsp. shortening
4 c. boiling water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 c. diced celery
1 c. diced potatoes
1 c. tomatoes
1 med. onion, sliced
1 c. peas
1 1/2 c. diced carrots

Cut meat into 1/2 inch pieces. Melt shortening in kettle, add salt and pepper, bring to a boil, cover and simmer until meat is tender (about 1 1/2 hours). Add vegetables and continue cooking about 30 minutes more, until vegetables are tender. Add more water if necessary while cooking.
