FRUIT CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
6 eggs
2 c. four
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 c. orange juice
2 tsp. lemon rind
3 1/2 lb. candied fruit, pineapple and red and green cherries

Cream butter, add sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add dry ingredients, juice and rind. Mix well. Stir in nuts and fruit. Fill greased pans 2/3 full. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 1/4 hours. Pour brandy over warm cakes and wrap in foil. These freeze well.
