PECAN CHEWS 
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sifted flour
1 c. toasted pecans, chopped

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla, and salt. Blend in flour and nuts. Spread dough in lightly greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch jelly roll pan. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on rack for 5 minutes; cut into bars. Remove from pan and continue cooling on rack. Makes 48 bars.
