2 c. cornmeal
1 tbsp. self-rising flour
1 tbsp. salt
1 egg
2 c. buttermilk
6 tbsp. onions, chopped

Mix all dry ingredients. Add onion; mix well. Then add egg and buttermilk. Drop by spoonfuls into hot grease and fry until they float. Drain on paper towels.
