Combine:

1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. shortening

Add:

1 c. flour, sifted (self-rising)

Mix well, pour into a well greased floured square cake pan.

TOPPING:

Combine following, sprinkle over batter:

1 tbsp. flour
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
