1/4 c. butter 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs 1/4 c. milk 1 c. sifted enriched flour 2 tbsp. cocoa 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. chopped walnuts Cream butter to soften. Gradually add sugar and vanilla, creaming well. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Stir in milk. sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Add nuts. Spread in greased 9"x9"x2" pan. Bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees, 20 minutes or until done. Frost cake with cocoa frosting: with spoon blend 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa, 1 tablespoon milk, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, 1 1/2 teaspoons softened butter and 2/3 cup sifted confectioners' sugar. Cool cake, cut in bars. Makes 2 dozen. |
