LENTILS 
1 c. lentils (masoor dal)
2 1/2 c. water
1 tsp. red pepper
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. allspice
Salt to taste
1 tbsp. cooking oil
2 cloves garlic, minced

Wash lentils thoroughly and put in saucepan. Add water and spices; cook on medium heat until tender and the water is almost gone. Heat oil in frying pan and brown the garlic. Pour over lentils and serve.
