SWEET & SOUR BEANS | |
8 slices bacon, crisp 4 lg. onions slice thin, cut rings in 1/2 Saute onions in bacon fat on low heat for 15 minutes. 1 tsp. salt 1 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. dry mustard 1/2 c. cider vinegar Add to onion mixture and cook on low heat 20 minutes, covered. 1 (1 lb.) can green lima beans (partially drain, save juice) 2 (1 lb.) cans butter beans (partially drain, save juice) 1 (1 1b.) can dark red kidney beans, drain completely 1 (1 lb.) can Campbell's pork & beans 1/2 c. ketchup Mix all together and cook on top of stove for awhile. Put in casserole. Crumble bacon on top. Bake, covered, 2 hours at 350 degrees. If casserole becomes dry, add extra bean juices. |
